Optometry Center of the Affiliated Ophthalmic Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University (Optometry Center in short) belongs to Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center of Sun Yat-sen University. Since its establishment in 1985, Optometry Center has been following the idea of “Your eyes We care”, and has taken advantage of professional optometrists, advanced technology, medical equipment and academic research. Over 30 years, it has become the largest optometry center in China with various facilities. Optometry Center mainly deals with prevention of congenital myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism in children; prevention of myopia, treatment for amblyopia and strabismus in both adolescents and children; eye examinations and eyeglass fittings for adults with refractive errors and presbyopia. Optometry Center also offers services of contact lens and progressive multifocal lens fittings, education on eye care and detection of eye diseases. Besides, it provides eye care and optical services to leaders at municipal, provincial and national levels as well as to foreign embassy staff. 

Optometry Center employs nearly 50 optometrists graduating from optometry major of famous schools of medicine in China, most of whom have a graduate degree or senior title in optometry. They have polished their expertise and accumulated rich clinical experience in eye examinations, contact lens fittings, and treatment for amblyopia. They also give lectures in schools of optometry and provide training courses for doctors of other hospitals. Renowned universities like Hong Kong Polytechnic University and University of Southern California are partners of Optometry Center. In the future, we will further contribute to optometry with more professional technology and services.
