Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center (ZOC) of Sun Yat-sen University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Summit Forum in Ophthalmology was held on on August 8. 

Over 10 experts and scholars attended the forum and exchanged ideas, including Prof. Clement Tham, world renowned expert in glaucoma, Secretary General of Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO), Vice President of Asia-Pacific Glaucoma Society (APGS), and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at CUHK; Prof. Calvin Pang, Director of CUHK Ophthalmic Research Centre; Prof. Srujana Sahebjada, visiting scholar at CUHK Eye Center, Professor Marten Brelen, Director of the Pao So Kok Macular Disease Treatment and Research Centre; and Prof. Mingguang He, Prof. Xiulan Zhang, Prof. Xiaoyan Ding, Prof. Haotian Lin and Prof. Ling Zhao at ZOC. The forum was hosted by Prof. Xiulan Zhang. 

Prof. Yizhi Liu, Director of ZOC, delivered an opening speech. He pointed out that this forum created an opportunity for Prof. Clement Tham and the delegates of CUHK to visit ZOC for exchanges, which would lay a solid foundation for the interconnection between ZOC and CUHK in the fields of clinical diagnosis, treatment as well as research on glaucoma, maculopathy and other ophthalmic diseases prevention. 

Later, the attendees had an in-depth discussion on the new progress and new technology in the ophthalmic field. Senior leaders from both sides also exchanged ideas on cooperation in clinical training and scientific research, achieved a consensus on applying for cooperation resources and exploring possibilities for all-round cooperation based on the strengths of both sides, and reached a primary intent of further cooperation in the future. In addition, The ceremony of visiting professor appointment for Prof. Clement Thamwas held before the forum and  Director Yizhi Liu presented the honorary certificate to Prof. Tham.
