On Oct, 26th, the State Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology at Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-sen University hosted a symposium on ocular genetics, development and stem cell biology. Experts from National Eye Institute (USA), Chinese University of Hong Kong(CUHK), and Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center gathered together and intensively discussed the forefront problems of ocular biology, and exchanged their latest researches. The conference aimed at tackling bottleneck problems in understanding and designing new treatments of a range of common and rare genetic ocular diseases. The conference agreed that collaborative efforts from the fields of genetics, developmental biology and stem cell biology will be in urgently need in solving the key issues in ocular diseases.  

Director Yizhi Liu made a retro- and prospective opening remarks for the meeting.
