On the 15th September, He Mingguang Research Group published a myopia prevention paper in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA, IF 35.289), entitled “Effect of Time Spent Outdoors at School on the Development of Myopia Among Children in China.” Prof. He Mingguang from Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-sen University serves as the research group leader, the first and corresponding author of this paper. The paper was published as the first treatise coupled with editorial comments in the same issue. This three-year research found that outdoor activities, a simple public health prevention method, could reduce the risk of myopia. Through a randomized clinical trial, the paper provided results with “clinical importance” and was referred by overseas press extensively.
