Mr. Liu Yizhi, director of ZOC and Ms. Xia Dan, Party secretary of ZOC, and related staff in Center of Ocular Fundus Diseases, Office of Preventive Ophthalmology, Image Reading Center of ZOC and General Office of ZOC received the guests.

Mr. Liu Yizhi extended welcome to the delegation led by Ms. Nellie FONG WONG Kut-man, and gave a brief introduction on medical services, research, teaching and work of preventive ophthalmology. Ms. Nellie FONG WONG Kut-man said that China has the largest number of diabetic patients in the world. Each year, about one million diabetic patients were subject to blindness due to a lack of timely medical treatment. Lifeline Express looked forward to cooperating with ZOC in launching diabetic retinopathy screening and in educating the general public to reduce the risk of blindness for diabetic patients.

Both sides reached consensus for mutually establishing a diabetic retinopathy screening platform to provide screening, diagnoses, and review of images for diabetic patients. With the help of the platform, diabetic patients could stay away from diabetic retinopathy and pursue a quality life.

Ms. Yuan Xuemei, head of Lifeline Express Office, Department of International Cooperation of National Health and Family Planning Commission stated that National Health and Family Planning Commission would be in great support of this public health event, especially under the severe condition of high diabetes rates in China.
