【SYSU News Center】Dr. Jin Yuan from Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center Receives Award as "Grand Challenges 2015 Young Scientists"

Recently, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (the Gates Foundation) and the Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MOST) co-hosted the 11th Grand Challenges Annual Meeting in Beijing. During the meeting, Dr. Jin Yuan from Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center received award as “Grand Challenges 2015 Young Scientists”. Dr. Laiwu Zhang, vice minister of MOST, Dr. Sue Desmond-Hellmann, CEO of the Gates Foundation, and Dr. Yigong Shi, Vice President of Tsinghua University, attended the meeting and congratulated the winners.

 

Dr. Jin Yuan receives the award as “Grand Challenges 2015 Young Scientists”.

All together 50 outstanding young Chinese innovators received awards as “Grand Challenges 2015 Young Scientists”, in recognition of their commitment and contribution in global health and development through innovation. The winners have a diverse background in research and industrialization spanning bio-technology, population health and modern agriculture. Prof. Jin Yuan was rewarded for his excellent achievement in immunological study of corneal transplantation, who was the only young scientist receiving this prize in Sun Yat-sen University.
