The first “ZOC--Stanford” Joint Symposium of Ophthalmology has been held at ZOC

On January 17th, 2019, the first “ZOC-Stanford” Joint Symposium of Ophthalmology was successfully held in the conference hall at Zhujiang New Town campus, Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-Sen University.


The symposium was launched jointly by ZOC, Sun Yat-Sen University and the Byers Eye Institute, Stanford University. Professor Yizhi Liu; the President of ZOC delivered a welcome speech expressing a sincere and warm welcome to 6 ophthalmologists from Stanford, and hope for more communication and discussion between ZOC and Byers during the symposium. At the opening ceremony, Professor Jeffrey Goldberg was presented with the Appointment of Visiting Professor to ZOC by Prof. Liu. The symposium was hosted by Prof. Yehong Zhuo, the Deputy Director of ZOC.

 

Six invited speakers from Stanford; Profs. Jeffrey Goldberg, Quan Dong Nguyen, Daniel Palanker, Michael Kapiloff, Vinit Mahajan, Y. Joyce Liao, and 6 speakers from ZOC; Profs. Jian Ge, Minbin Yu, Xiaoling Liang, Wancheng Li, Lai Wei and Ling Zhao gave lectures at the symposium. During the symposium the most advanced clinical and basic research hotspots in ophthalmology were discussed exchange with in-depth by the panel on relevant topics, this strengthening academic exchanges in the field of ophthalmology between China and the United States.


The “ZOC--Stanford” Joint Symposium of Ophthalmology brought in brain storming and motivation from both sides. With a joint effort, the two sides are going to explore collaborative potential in Glaucoma treatment, VR Biological therapy and clinical translation and endeavor to transform original discoveries into products for promoting health.
