The 2nd China-Egypt Ophthalmologic Forum Held in Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-sen University

The 2nd China-Egypt Ophthalmologic Forum took place in the academic hall of Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center (ZOC), State Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology (SKLO), Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), on May 27th, 2019. Delegates from Egypt and China have attended this event. Prof. Lezheng Wu, President of Afro-Asian Council of Ophthalmology, and Xia Dan, Secretary of ZOC, welcomed the guests at the forum.


The forum mainly focused on the treatment of several ocular diseases, including the retinopathy of prematurity, necrotizing herpetic retinitis, congenital fibrosis of extra-ocular muscles, and diabetic macular edema. It promoted academic exchanges and cooperation among ophthalmologists from Egypt and ZOC and strengthened the " Belt and Road" friendship among ophthalmologists form Africa and Asia.

Experts from Egypt also visited the hospital, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Clinic, Department of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data. Prof. Haotian Lin, director of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, introduced the workflow of AI clinic, its latest achievements, and the research team of the department to our distinguished visitors. Prof. Tharwat H. Mokbel, Vice President of AACO, expressed his sincere hope in cooperating with Prof. Lin to make new progresses in the field of medical AI.
