Zhongshan Strabismus Symposium Successfully Held

On December 22, the Zhongshan Symposium on Difficult Strabismus Cases and the National Continuing Education Seminar on Strabismus and Amblyopia, organized by the Department of Strabismus and Amblyopia, Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, was successfully held. Professor Jianhua Yan, Director of the Department of Strabismus and Amblyopia of Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, presided over the Symposium. Well-known domestic ophthalmologists were invited to the seminar, including Professor Wei Zhang form Tianjin Eye Hospital, Professor Hu Liu from the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Professor Chen Zhao from the Eye & ENT Hospital of Fudan University. Six difficult cases including rare special types of strabismus, trauma related strabismus, and strabismus with unknown diagnosis, etc, were presented and generated heated discussions. The experts' shared their rich clinical experience on the diagnosis, pathogenesis and treatment of these six difficult cases. The symposium was conducted both offline and online. More than 6,000 ophthalmologists and students attended the symposium.

The symposium was an annual high-level academic national meeting of strabismus. It builded the platform for the young ophthalmologists to broaden their horizons and cultivate clinical thinking of diagnosis and treatment. Professor Jianhua Yan concluded that this symposium enhanced the academic exchanges in the field of strabismus and amblyopia. He expected to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with other departments and other hospitals to further promote the development of the field of strabismus.
